He Wrote Life

Reading: John 8:1-11

Devotional: Guilty as charged.  The woman caught in the very act of adultery faced a literal death sentence according to the law. Religious law leaves very little room for error. Truthfully, death is still the penalty for sin and we, too, can have the same guilty verdict. On this very day mercy came running when Jesus wrote "life" into her death sentence. She was experiencing the psalmist David's declaration, "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all of my days." What an anthem! What death sentence is the enemy holding over you? Perhaps it's shame, addiction, or past failure. Today, Jesus is ready to write "life" into your situation. The enemy may have trapped you, but Christ offers triumph. Don't give up in your darkest hour, goodness and mercy has your back! And Jesus is still writing life in your story.
