Life Talk Devotional

Drawing Near Daily

Reading: James 4:8-10

Devotional: "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." This isn't a one-time decision but a daily invitation. Nearness—presence—is the fuel for endurance. God doesn't demand perfection before you approach Him; He knows your inadequacies and struggles. Like Isaiah, who cried "Woe is me!" yet received cleansing from the altar, you can come as you are. The Lord sees your mess and offers His remedy. Distance weakens endurance; proximity produces strength. Every morning presents a fresh opportunity to step toward Him, and He promises to step toward you. Don't hide in shame or fear. Take one step today—open your Bible, say a prayer, confess a struggle. Intimacy with God sustains endurance through life's battles.

Reflection: What step will you take toward Him today?

What a reminder, “Nearness—presence—is the fuel for endurance.” Help me stay close to Him so I can endure this race and one day soon be in His presence!

Sunday’s message was so rich and I particularly loved this part. The Lord sees our messy middle and we will find Him right there with us! It’s so refreshing to know God doesn’t expect perfection. He just expects our participation. All we have to do is draw near to Him! And He will draw near to us!

I love this devotional. Our God asks us to come closer to him. It demonstrates just how far sin has caused us each to fall away from God and how far. Yet through Jesus we can come BOLDLY “ Hebrew’s 4:16” daily! Using the parable of the prodigal son, we take a step back to God he with open arms runs to us. Praise Him
