Taking Up Your Cross Daily
Reading: Luke 9:23-26
Devotional: Crowns are to be worn in heaven, crosses are meant to be carried on earth. Jesus calls us to die daily, not physically, but to our flesh, pride, and selfish ambitions. The cross is where our ego, lust, and selfishness are nailed down. We live in a culture obsessed with self-promotion and personal glory, but the Christian life moves in the opposite direction. When you pick up your cross, its weight humbles you and reminds you of what Christ carried for you. Daily surrender isn't glamorous, it's gritty, painful, and often unwelcomed. However, it's the pathway to endurance. Each moment the flesh rises with temptation or pride, you have a choice: indulge it or nail it to the cross. Victory isn't won once for all time; it's won moment by moment.
Reflection: Will you surrender today? What can you intentionally nail to the cross today?
