Clothed in His Righteousness

Reading: Luke 15:11-24

Devotional: The father's embrace of his wayward son reveals the heart of righteousness. When the son returned filthy and ashamed, the father didn't demand cleanup first, he ran to cover him with royal garments. This is a picture of God's righteousness: not earned through our efforts, but received as a gift. We come to Him covered in the filth of our failures, and He clothes us in His own righteousness. The world sees our past, but God covers us with His future.  Today, stop trying to clean yourself up before approaching God. Come as you are, broken, messy, desperate, and let Him wrap His robe of righteousness around your shoulders. You're as righteous today as you'll ever be, not because of what you've done, but because of what He's done.

Reflection: What has shame caused you to hide? What identity has the world labeled you with but God has been wanting to cover? Uncover it today and allow God to cover you in His righteousness!
