Greater Glory
Reading: Romans 8:18-25
Devotional:
Paul declares that present sufferings aren't worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us. In Scripture, glory means "weighty" substance and value. The Biblical standard for value was not the same as today's worldly standards, but by weight and the capacity to carry weight. Every trial you endure is expanding that capacity, broadening your foundation, deepening your roots. You're not suffering in vain; you're being prepared for greater glory. Like a teacher who tests students before promotion, God is making sure you are ready for the next level, the next expansion. Your current pain is building the spiritual muscles needed to carry the assignment He has for you. Don't despise the season of strengthening; aka the season of suffering.
Reflection: How might your current struggles be preparing you for greater purpose and glory? Can you see him working this for your good yet?
