Here I Am - Cleansed
Reading: Isaiah 6:5-7
Devotional:
Isaiah's response to God's glory was immediate conviction: "I am a man of unclean lips." When we truly encounter God's holiness, we become aware of our own inadequacy. Yet this awareness is not meant to condemn us but to prepare us for transformation.
Notice God's response—He didn't reject Isaiah. Instead, a seraphim touched his lips with a burning coal from the altar, declaring, "Your guilt is removed and your sin is forgiven." The way you see yourself is not how God sees you. He sees your potential, your calling, your purpose. He has a plan for your filth, a remedy for your inadequacy. The coal that purifies comes from the altar of sacrifice, pointing to Jesus who makes us clean. You don't have to clean yourself up before approaching God; He does the cleansing when you come.
Reflection Question: In what areas do you feel most inadequate for God's call? Can you trust Him to purify and equip you?
