Speak, Lord, Your Servant Is Listening

Reading: 1 Samuel 3:19-21; James 1:22-25

Devotional: Samuel's prayer became his lifestyle: "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." Notice the progression—God was silent in Israel, but as Samuel positioned himself in proximity and proved faithful through obedience, God continued to speak to him, ending the vocal drought. God isn't silent because He has nothing to say; He's often silent because previous words have gone unheeded. But when He finds an obedient ear, He speaks continually. Samuel grew in the presence of God, and everything he said proved reliable because he first listened well. This week, commit to being a hearer and a doer. Position yourself in His presence. Listen for His voice. Then obey immediately. Your faithful obedience today opens the door for fresh revelation tomorrow. God is looking for servants whose ears are tuned to His voice and whose lives demonstrate His words.

Reflection: What is God saying to you right now that requires action? Commit to one specific act of obedience this week.
