The Power of Proximity

Reading: 1 Samuel 3:1-10

Devotional: Samuel made his bed near the Ark of the Covenant in the Tabernacle, positioning himself near God's Presence. In a season when "messages from the Lord were very rare," Samuel's proximity in location and posture of his heart, made all the difference. Like Samuel, we must intentionally position and posture ourselves for God's presence — read His Word, pray, fast, worship. It's not enough to occasionally visit God's presence; we must take the time to dwell there. The power of proximity means we position ourselves close enough to hear when He speaks. Today, examine where you've made your bed spiritually. Are you near enough to the presence of God to hear His whisper? To experience His embrace? Your proximity determines your ability to receive. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

Reflection: Where have you "made your bed" spiritually? What adjustments can you make to live in closer proximity to God's embracing presence?
